HEALTH & WELL BEING

Maybe the gym workouts aren’t for you… and you want to start or continue your fitness journey with something a little different? Come and get fit with AHUK!

In collaboration with SB Music Provisions, we enable you to connect with your bodies and the drum with a mixture of traditional African and Caribbean movements; creating an overall feeling of wellbeing.

Sessions include a warm-up, constant movements and a cool-down. We make sure to break down movements so you are never left behind!

This class doesn’t focus on dancing ability; we want to improve fitness levels and have fun.

Suitable for all ages, all you need is a positive spirit!

Take a look at some feedback from our first sessions with some ladies at St.Andrews Church, Brockley:

In December, we received funding from NHS South Lambeth and Maudsley team as part of their ‘Let’s Smile’ initiative. We ran a 4 week afro-aerobics course for Carers4Carers; a support group for those who care for people with ill health or disability. The feedback from the sessions was amazing! Some participants had mobility issues caused by illnesses such as Lupus, and said it helped boost their activities. All involved loved the movement with drumming, enjoyed the exercise and have asked for us to come back again!
